I have a Kicker L5 12inch subwoofer powered by a kicker KX 600.1 Amp.

I was wondering if i should build a ported or a sealed box. I am looking for a box that will pound to Rap and Country. Both have similar bass to eachother. Trunk space doesnt matter either.

The tech manual gives you the pros and cons of either method.  Have you read that?  Several box cut plans are shown in the manual.  The T/S parameters of these subs tend to favor sealed.

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

Sure, just have to have enough room for cooling behind the sub, a couple of inches.  The box can be any shape as long as the net air volume is correct.  When you build a long box you will want to work in some bracing into the design.

I would highly recommend ported for the L5's, they will play much louder . i have built more boxes for the kickers than I care to count and they just seem to do better in ported boxes. if you are looking for sound quality i would have bought different speakers kickers tend to favor spl instead.
