I have the 2006 Pontiac Torrent (Same as 2005 Chevrolet Equinox)

I installed a bulldog remote starter with a bulldog 791 bypass.  I have actually now successfully installed this system into a 2002 Trailblazer, 2002 Alero, and a 2002 Avalanche, but I'm having problems with this one.

I cannot get the bypass to learn the resistance of the passlock 2.  The red light will not turn off.  I can't get in touch with Bulldog Security...they put me on hold for 10 minutes and then just hang up on me.

Anyone have any information?

The only difference I can see on this car vs. the others that i've done is that this car doesn't have a normal starter wire.  So I have to hook up a relay to cut the power to the accessory wires to trick the BCM into starting the car....no problem.  BUT, there is also a wire on the bypass that goes to the crank wire...and now this wire isn't being used....is this why the bypass will not learn the resistance?

I figured that maybe the bypass will not attempt to learn the resistance in the passlock 2 system until it gets a pulse from the crank wire...is that true?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Rick

Ok, nevermind, I figured it out...

for anyone who buys a bulldog starter and bypass for the Equinox or Torrent, you have to send a manual 12V pulse to the crank wire into the bypass with the engine running before the bypass will learn the passlock resistance.

The reason is because the bypass would normally pick up this pulse from the vehicle's starter wire when the key is turned, but since the starter wire doesn't exist, the bypass never knew I even started to car, therefore it never checked the resistance.

Good Luck

also the PLXR from trilogix will work with this vehicle right out of the box...Set up for vehicles that don't have a standard starter wire...  easy install using it...   but glad to hear you figured it out...
