Has anyone added actuators to a Mazda 3 yet? Are there any complications with doing so?

Let me be more specific: on the door lock mechanism there is a cable attached to door lock inside the door instead of a rod, is it ok to attach the actuators connecting block to the cable or should I try to get to the actual mechainsm in the door? Please anyone that has done this or a car like it, try and answer. I'm doing this car tonite and its going to be easier with a plan of action.
