I installed my first remote start\security yesterday and the only thing that I am having problems with is the unlock /disarm feature.
The problem is it will not unlock the doors on the first press of the button. I press unlock and it disarms the system, chips twice, blinks, but the doors do not unlock. I press it a 2nd time and the doors unlock.
I have double and triple checked my wires and they are correct. I did not wire for dual unlock zones or whatever its called. I have the red wire (unlock) of my truck in the drivers door going to the green wire of the 996 (negitive unlock). The blue wire of my truck (lock) going to the red wire of the 996a (neg lock). The red\black wire (2nd unlock) is not being used.
I have programmed the unit every possible way I could find that had to do with 2nd unlock and always had the same effect. The 1st unlock disarms the system, the 2nd unlocks the doors.
What am I doing wrong? Is this just how the prestige units are?
Thanks.

u need to turn double pulse unlock on in the programming sounds like to me....that car requires a double pulse to the unlock wire....a single pulse will disarm factory security.  do that and ur problem will be fixed.
Where theres is a wire there's a way.

IM looking thru my manual now and I don't see any way to modify that. I can modify BLACK/ blue aux O/P to either a single pusle or feature #1. Whatever the hell that means.

You are exactly right, I found this on another site
You must run wires into the doors to connect to these wires. The first pulse on the RED will disarm and a double pulse will unlock the doors.
So now is there any way I can make this APS-996a unit double pulse the unlock?   or any cheap thing I can buy that will double pulse when the aps sends out a single?
