Neutral Pos Wire on MY04 STi Install on DEI
MY04STi Neutral Pos Wire from ECU provides:
In gears: Ground
Neutral: Provide nothing (not ground not positivie)
DEI neutral pos sensing wire:
requires ground in order to allow remote start/valet take overs.
How should I wire Neutral Pos Wire from ECU to DEI's neutral sensing wire?
From NetZ:
*UPDATE*
Another way to use the Impreza's Neutral Position Switch is to trigger a 12volt relay.
Impreza's NPS wire off ECU to Pin 85
Remote Start's 2nd Ignition Output to Pin86
Ebrake wire to Pin 87a
DEI's Neutral Safety Sense to Pin 30
The DEI requires a ground in order for remote start or valet take over mode to occur. If the vehicle is in gear the relay trips open and prevents the DEI's Neutral Safety Sense to detect the ground thrown by the Ebrake wire.
So it means that after I hook up the relay above, then Pin 30 would trigger negative when not in gear?
Then does the Ebrake play a role in it?
I'm kinda confused on this relay method.
Please help explain me before I fry something :D
Thanks,
Salaki

You got this info from nasioc.com, so why wouldn't you jst ask for an explanation there?
Easiest way on a 2004....and I have done a few:
Connect the neutral sensing wire of the car to the hood pin input (grey/black wire) of the remote start. Do not connect anything else to this circuit, unless you are using diodes.
Connect the parking brake wire of the car to the BLACK/ white neutral safety wire on the remote start. You can also put the little switch DEI includes inline with this wire so you can manually disable the remote start when servicing the car.
The car won't remote unless the parking brake is on, and it is in neutral with this method.
This info works for 2002-2004 Imprezzas. 2005 and up is different.
