hey guys
had a customer come in today and wants to do an alarm on his bmw.. unfortunately forgot what year and model beamer it was i think it was a 02 325 convertable... i may be wrong not a big bmw fan so.. needless to say he wants to be able to controll his top via the remote. i know you have to step on the brake to allow the top to work. how would i go about having the car think the brake is pressed if this is even possible and has anyone done this before and have any help with it. or is it just a lost cause?

Use an aux out channel to control two relays

First relay will energize and apply 12vdc to the brake wire.

Second relay will provide whatever signal is needed to raise the top.

You may want to look in to the ability to rasie the top by turning the key in the drivers key cylinder.  I've heard certain models have roofs that will raise this way.  If this is the case, you'll just need to ground the lock side of the key cylinder with a validity channel (or pulse timer relay)

hi,

does the customer need the vehicle to be running vehicle when performing this operation?  does it have mechanical latches to release the top near the windshield?  is he looking for open and close operation?  just a few things to look into before attempting.

Did this for a customer a year or so back had a newer 330xi.  I think all I had to do was pull the switch out and a momentary ground pulse on 1 of the wires w/ the parking break set would trigger the top to unlock and lift.
