im trying to filter the bass out of my front and rear speakers using the HPF in my Alpine 9831 but the problem im having is that when i adjust it, it takes the bass out of my sub too, could it have soemthing to do with my pre-outs? im running all the speakers just off the head unit, not amps or anything, any help would be great

i know it sounds like this shouldnt be happening, but it is. i can turn the high pass filter up to 125 and the bass cuts out of my speakers, but it cuts it off to my sub too, and i dont know why.

Make sure you have the subwoofer output turned ON and properly adjusted.  It sounds to me like your sub amp is not connected to the subwoofer output but to the front or rear output, or the sub out is in defeat mode.
