Hello,

I've got a question concerning wiring a mono-channel amplifier and a subwoofer (DVC). I read through the wiring tutorial at 12Volt and it seemes clear, but there still occurs one 'problem':

Is it better to wire it:

a) parallel: amplifier @ 2 Ohms, subwoofer @ 4 Ohms

b) series: amplifier @ 4 Ohms, subwoofer @ 2 Ohms

any changes on power, safety between these two solutions?

what kind of amp and what kind of sub? model numbers would be great. thanks

The wiring of the speaker changes the output of the amp, not the other way around. A amp cannot be 2 ohm while the sub is 4 ohm for example. The amp is what the speaker tells it to be. Meaning a dvc 4 ohm sub wired in series will be a 8 ohm load to the amp. The same sub wired in parallel will be a 2 ohm load on the amp. Always post the brand and model# of the equipment you have or will be buying.

Oh sorry, forgot about that.

The amplifier is an Alpine MRD-M301 150W RMS @ 4 ohm, 250W RMS @ 2 Ohm

Subwoofer is a Pioneer TS-W306, if I'm not mistaken, 400W RMS (2 - 6/8 Ohm)

Well, the tutorial just shows some different numbers, if i compare amp and sub Ohm. But okay, since you guys say so, I'll be fine. So which of this solutions would be better for this little system?

run it at 2 ohms wire the sub in parallel

okay, thanks for the help. Sorry for dumb question, but I'm still a n00b concerning car hifi, but I'm getting experience =)
