Hello again,

I am just wondering how you would go about gettin a dc-dc converter for a computers motherboard. Otherwise i would need to convert to AC then hte computers power supply would convert back to DC...there is no reason for this extra cost and waste of power. If anyone knows how i owuld be able to get a dc-dc converter to work on a motherboard...I would only need say 150-200 watts at the very most...

There are few manufacturers that make a power supply such as that. The best I found was about $130 for an ATX. I can't remember where I put the link. I found it by searching on Yahoo. Here's one I found quickly http://www.jenlogix.co.nz/products/ace-828.htm

seems like its not worth it...i kept researching and its a shame that its such a niche market. I wish i had more electrical knowledge to fashion my own, but looks like i will just pay the 30 bucks for an inverter and go the only feasible way.

check out my carputer install...then go get yourself a keypower dc/dc power supply!!!

and then go to http://www.mp3car.com to find out exactly what you need!!!

Lots of people have reported having bad experiences with these and temperature related issues. If it gets too hot it shuts down. The temp range is rather narrow (as far as DC-DC PSU's go). You might want to go for the Keypower of if you want an all in one solution try http://www.opussolutions.com
