I installed a remote starter on 2001 buick lesabre I had to use a 457g to bypass they paskey III. I have tested it numerous times, it works great. My customer has called and brought the car back claiming the rear window defroster is coming on sometimes when remote started. I tested it 30 times couldn't get it to happen. I used the orange wire for the accesory. anybody have any ideas?
Thanx

If its happening and you did not wire the rear defrost into the r/s system then its coincidence and not your fault. This one seems clear cut to me. The only way this could be your fault is if you wired rear defrost up and its activating when the customer does not wish it to, since thats not the case though its not your fault.

Is it possible it only turns on the rear defrost when it is below 32 degrees? The 457G will turn on heated seats in some vehicles when it gets that cold. Maybe it turns on the rear defrost too.

Wouldn't really surprise me at all...... Seem to think the climate controls on the car run on the databus.

Having the same exact problem, I did not hook up the Option wire on the 457G and the customer keeps claiming that the seats and defogger come on all the time.I swapped the unit out 3 times and has never happened when they brought the car in to me. Finally, today when I let the car sit outside ALL day then went and remote started the car and they came on LO with the defroster. The problem is that the heated seat/rear defogger will automatically come on if the engine is at 0 degrees or if the outside temperature is under 30 degrees. There isnt anything I think you can do...thats what Ive been told, I thought the customer was crazy but turns out that it was really happening!!
