right lads new here hope u can help me.
I recently had a concept 650 clifford alarm fitted to my 97 sti .and i have the clifnet wizard software installed on my laptop and have the lead aswell.
My problem is that the lead i received from my clifford dealer is for a serial connection on a computer,so i went out and purchased a serial to usb adapter.but when i connect the lead to my laptop and then to the alarm and open up the software it says comm 1 comm2 not found,comm3 wrong name and comm4 not found.anyone know how to change this.as the serial to usb adapter is setup as comm 7,8 or 9 ports.also my laptop is a hp zd8000 only has usb ports

Go into device manager and then go to the ports area. If you go into the device for your usb to serial port bridge, look for an advanced settings. In there you can usually change the port number to something that you can use.
