Yes Jeff it will print fine.  Thanks for the idea, I will give it a try this evening.  Right now I am wrestling with hooking a rear defroster up to my remote start unit. Its in a 1997 Explorer. My info says ground out the dark blue/orange wire at the defrost switch.  I did this by using the - output from the R S unit on pin 86.  Pin 85 I ran to the ingnition wire in the vehicle.  Pin 87 goes to chassis ground and pin 30 goes to the wire at the switch.  The light does not come on on the switch(yellow).  I have check the voltage across the coil.(while running)  Good.  I have ohmed from pin 87 to ground. Good.  The relay does "click" on and has the negitive coming through it.  Do I have the wrong wire in the vehicle?  Any info would sure help.   Thanks again. Brian

I am trying to turn on a rear defroster  with remote start on my 1997 Ford Explorer.  The info I have says to ground out the dark blue/orange wire at the defroster switch.  I have done this through a relay. Pin 86 to RS unit (-) output when running.  pin 85 to ignition wire.  pin 87 to chassis ground.  Pin 30 to wire at defrost switch.  What have I done wrong?  I can turn the switch on and read 12 volts at the connectors going to the elements on the rear window.  If I remote start it I cant read anything.  Thanks in advance.  Brian

Did you connect the remote start to both ignition leads and the accessory lead in the vehicle?

I still cant get the defroster to come on.  Im sure it is a combination of wires I have to power up,but which ones?  This is what I have:  Crimestopper 900er RS / keyless entry unit.  Ign. 1   to  GREEN/ purple.  Ign 2 GREEN/ purple Ign 3(made through a relay) to BLACK/ green accesory wire.  The accesory wire from unit to one of the gray / YELLOW wires for the heat/ac.  Have I powered up the wrong wires?  The remote start works fine I just cant get the rear defroster to come on with remote start.  All help, small prayers and tips are welcome.  Thanks alot Brian

Some defrost circuitsd require that the ignition be on and then the button is pressed. If you try to do the defrost at the same time you do the defrost, it may not work. To test, sit in the vehicle while you remote start the car and hold your finger on the defrost button to engage it while the car is starting. If the defrost goes on, then you know that it will work if you tie into the ignition wires to activate the defrost and you have some wiring troubles. If the defroster doesn't turn on BUT does turn on after the remote start by pressing it, then you know you have to pulse this circuit after the remote start process is engaged.

Jeff, I just tried your test and it would not come on while I held it in during the RS.  I then tried to turn it on (while remotely started)and no light.  It is possible that I dont have the right wires powered up or will it just not work.  By the way, I am having a problem with finding the disarm wire in this vehicle.  I have attached the disarm wire from the RS to a wire colored dark GREEN/ purple(violet)and it will still go into full alarm.  I dont have it on the right wire.  There are a ton of GREEN/ purple wires in the drivers kick, some look almost teal in color which one is right?   Thanks for your time.  Brian

This is a keyless entry unit. I do have one spare channel(trunk release)  I want the defroster to come on while remotely started.  Will this help?  Brian
