My dream car, HIS daily driver...
It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

My wife is the automatic adjuster whenever she's riding with me.  It's down with the volume every time she has something to say, then back up...but not as far as it was...

I'm fortunate the volume knob is easily accessible!

I want to invent something that makes everything not work except when I use it.

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

alot of GM radios have knobs along side of the volume where you can adjust how much louder it increases per mile an hour type thing. I have it set at a low level, unless the windows are down and im on the highway. It is a good idea, I like it because when I am going fast with high volume, and I slow down and am at a stop, the volume decreases accordingly. If you make a universal setup let me know cause Id want a nice one for when i get a new car or something.

This is more like it! Some GM radios have this, you say.

If I could make something like this, could it be commercialized, sold as an add-on? Because it would go in between any head-unit and amp (I assume).

The speed is the input, not a mic. Hummm. As suggested in a previous post.

Unfortunately I doubt my ability to make this; I would have to have it made by some one with more skill.

Are we sure something like this doesn’t already exist?

My idea is also to have a universal unit, because every time I have had another car (I’m plagued with cars breaking all the time) or new radio, I have wanted this. It would be easy to install it in another car without worrying about what radio I ended up with.

I designed an interface that feeds vehicle speed to a radar gun. Just send me the car and I'll see if I can get it to work on the radio. I'll only need the car for the Summer.

Or, per stevdarts solution, I can send you my wife.

[/QUOTE] OK, i'll send the car over, the only condition being that you take my wife too! A few weeks/months of quiet would do me good!

710- when you get to 50 posts you get the privilege of editing, and it has to be before anyone posts behind you.  You gotta go through the ranks... ;)
