What is the difference between a flashing and a non-flashing LED? I know it sounds like a stupid question.

Not a stupid question. A flashing led is one that flashes as long as voltage is applied. A non-flashing will only flash when pulses are received

so you really would only need a non flashing led for remote start purposes since the unit already has pulses programmed for it. Or do some units rely on flashing LED's to flash for long periods of time like when armed? and it pulses for other diagnostics etc.? Thanks for the input I thought I might get overlooked

Most alarms will flash the led. Just if you are looking to get additional leds then make sure you have the correct type ( most alarms supply 2V). As for diagnostics the alarm will flash the led there is no need for a flashing led. Most of the time I have seen flashing leds they were involved in a dummy alarm system ( hooked up to flash when the car is turned off).
