Hey guys, I got another kenwood headunit (model number is scratched and can't make it out) that is hooked up to a kenwood cd changer.  The headunit will not 'see' the cd changer - can't go to it, can't control it, can't do anything with the cd changer from the headunit.  I put in different cd changers with the headunit and this particular headunit is definately the problem because the cd changers will work with other headunits.  I've already resoldering many of the connections on the and around the board, since that is a very common problem on these things.  I've checked the connector from the cd changer to the headunit - its good.  I've checked the pins on the headunit for the cd changer - they all check out good too.  I am out of ideas.  Anyone have a suggestion other than to junk this thing (which I already suggested to the person asking me to fix it).  thanks.

Did changer reset?

If it did switch changer setting from 0 to 1 or 1 to 0 (mode setting)  switch should be near eject button.

Have you verified the DIN cable is good as well?  If not, try it on another unit and see.  If it's bad, try a known good one off a working setup.
My ex once told me I have a perfect face for radio.

I don't think the changer reset, I've used 2 different changers and both worked fine on two other headunits, same with DIN cable, used on 2 other headunits, just to make sure I wasn't crazy.  I didn't wank the cable out, since it was in the car, I just put another headunit into the car, hooked it up and boom, it works.

What year is your new Kenwood HU, and what year is your Kenwood CD changer. I believe that Kenwood made it so that any Kenwood disc chager or cd player released in 1997 or earlier, are not compatable with those released in 1998 or later.

I don't know how old the things are but they did work together for a few years before crapping out. I didn't know that about kenwood stuff, thats pretty interesting.
