My current HU is showing signs of aging so I am looking to buy an Eclipse HU. I went and looked at them at a shop and the displays looked like they weren't that easy to read. It was of course in a show room with bright florescent lights glaring down, but anyone have any real in car experience with these or heard anything about the dipslays not being very bright?

It must be the lighting, I just went and looked at my display and they are easy to see. Thay also may not have the illumination wire hooked up as well.

Top Secret, I can tell you but then my wife will kill me.

I know the newer higher end eclispe models allow you to make the buttons different colors. green is the easiest to read with orange be second, blue in thrid and red in last.

I have the CD8445 and it is easily seen in the day, as well as at night.  Great HU BTW!

Maybe it was the lighting or illumination. Thanks for the responses now I can buy it without any worries.

Excellent choice. Its funny how the 5000 has the 8V pre outs but the 7000 only has 5V. Ofcourse it does you no good unless your amp can handle the full 8V. Let us know how you like it. Also, if it doesnt come with the tuning mic, make sure you buy it. They sell it on cardomain for $20.
