hi, my name is david, and i need a little advice from you guys,

1994 honda civic dx : i replaced the original factory tape deck with an alpine cd deck, the deck works fine, and all dash lights and everything come on, no problem it seems, but now the car wont start. it will crank as if trying to start, but engine wont turn over. i dont understand. i cut the harness from the wires coming out of dash, and rewired the alpine harness to them, everything done neat and clean, but while wiring the alpine harness a power wire from dash touched metal and sparked, blew 15amp fuse, and i replaced the fuse, no problem right? everything still powers. the car is also equipped with a micro-lock security device, that makes me have to turn the ignition to on and wait for two beeps to start, and it still beeps and twerps like it should. the car would crank but not turn on one attempt, and the next attempt it would "click" and stop. i tryed taking negative cable off battery for about 2 minutes, even tryed new battery. i checked the fuses under dash and hood, all good. honda dealer said over the phone that the factory deck must be left in or it wont start, recomended that tuck the honda under the dash?, but that dosnt make sense. he said that a car audio store will sell a "bypass harness", but audio express never heard of such a thing.

so that is my situation, hope i didnt make this subject to long, i really appreciate any advice or suggestions on this, cause i am clueless and broke as a joke so not many options here. thanks for your time

You have a 94 civic, all that tucking the radio isn't for you're year. You also said "audio express", what state are you in?

There's probably an anti-theft system that is damaged. It sounds like the IGNITION wire is not being powered during crank. Check to see if the BLACK / YELLOW wire has 12 volts while in the crank position.

hey thanks guys appreciate the suggestions, because i still havnt been able to solve this problem my self.

yes it has a yellow/red wire that is the 12v+ switched lead. also, a blue/white wire that is what i assume is the 12v+ constant power, wich the diagram of the harness on the asctual tape deck refers to as "battery, (back-up)" and another diagram i found as "memory". so i will try rewiring the honda harness and wiring the alpine harness right to the honda one this time.

and i will definitly test the voltage from that ignition switch wire.

you guys are genius's. i will contact your employers and demand they give you raises.!   Replaced Stereo, Now Car Wont Start -- posted image.

"the car would crank but not turn on one attempt, and the next attempt it would "click" and stop" ...when it was cranking, did it sound like it was slow at cranking?  and the secone time you said it would click? sounds to me like the battery is power is low, if you haven't already, try getting a boost from a buddy or charge your battery over night, and try it agian

That's what I picked up as well, battery is dead perhaps, time to get a boost. I would also check the main fuses under the hood to see if one is snapped as well.

check to see if your car battery is low test it with a digital meter. Check the main fuses under the hood you might have blown a main fuse (30AMP,40AMP etc.) check the small fuses too.(10AMP,20AMP,etc.) test them with your meter to make sure they are ok.good luck.

did you pull the domelight fuse when working on the vehicle?    was the interior light on the whole time?   did you charge the battery for a few hours and try to start it again?

yes the dome light i had on the whole time, and i did try a whole new battery that was pretty much brand new. i did find the micro lock security device under my dash. it spliced from the ignition wire and the starter wire and the battery wire at the ignition harness and ran into a relay or something that beeps and makes you hold the key in the on position before starting for bout 3 seconds and then lets you start. i took that out of the circuit. still wont start. however the starter is cranking but it wont turn over. i did hook the honda stereo back up to, and it works. all fuses are good, all accessorys work, and then i found a gps device taped up and hidden deep up in the dash that has two wires coming from somwere on top of the ignition. i pulled the device out but havnt traced down the wires or anyhting yet, still wont start. i assume the gps was from the dealer incase to repo. still dealers wont give me info. all i have left to try is to borrow a volt meter hopefully tonight and check voltage's everywere.

i appreciate everyones help. this really sucks and i am really having a hard time getting it figured out.

respect.
