Does anyone know how to remove the factory amplifier from a 1992 Ford Explorer XLT? I just instalIed a Panasonic CQ-C5301U and I cannot get my speakers to work. If I install the amplifier by-pass I think this will solve my problem. I know where it is located but I do not know how to get to it. Can someone please help me?

Take out the entire right rear quarter panel of the vehicle to get to the amplifier.
Top Secret, I can tell you but then my wife will kill me.

The inputs to the amp, and the outputs from the amp are in the pass. kick running down the entire rig all the way to the rear Qtr. Remove all the sill panals and expose the cable. Just where the cable goes under the rear seat, you can cut the entire cable. BE CAREFUL....there is also 12volts in that cable, so cut the wires one at a time. Identify the 12volt wire and put a butt connector on it. The outs from the amp are ford standard colors. You can the pull the cable end towards the front of the rig and run the cable to the opening in the dash. Hook the outs from the deck to the end of the cable ...amplifier is now bypassed, and you didn't have to tear down half the interior panals to do it.

You usually bypass the amp because the factory deck's output level is much lower then the aftermarket's and you get a real aggressive volume control.
There is no such thing as free installation!
