Does anyone know if the new cobalts or pursuit need's a data retention module?

Yes the vehicles you listed does need one to retain the door chime but that is about all. I have done a few of them for Cobalts and Pursuits where I used the normal harness and rearranged the pinouts on the non-data harness to match the data harness pinsouts. Also, you may or may not need this as well :

I have not seen these yet on any Canadian version Cobalts and Pursuits, but that doesn't mean that they're not out there.
