Hi everyone, I had a Pioneer Avic N2, and my car as broken into, and it was stolen. Well my insurance company is giving me all kinds of hassles to get it replaced because I cannot provide a recipt because I bought it from a person, not online or a store. Well they are sending me to Ciruit City to have them look at my car to see if I had a "data wire" they said if I have it it will prove I had the unit, if not they will just give me a basic CD player. My question is, what is the data wire for? I know there were certain things that we did not hook up (my brother installed it) I did not have my cars speed and all of that.. could that be what the wire is for? I just need to know so we can tweak my car before I take it in. I am going to be really mad if they give me a 100 dollar CD player to replace my DVD!! Any help would be appreciated!!

they might be looking for the (brain) Hide-a-way unit part of the AVIC-N2 system the data cable runs from the brain to the screen part of the AVIC-N2
they might also be look to see where the GPS antenna was mounted, if your parking brake wire reverse wire,Vss wire was hooked up etc.
ask your brother to take a look at your car and see if it is in there or where he put it. and what all wires did he hook up
