04 Ranger Air Bag Light

I installed an astro start the other day on an 04 Ford Ranger.  Everything works fine, starter works great, but now I have an air bag light that flashes a code, from what I gather it must mean 27 because it is 2 then a pause, then 7 then a long pause, then it repeats.  It does it 3 or 4 times and then the light stays on.  It doesn't matter if you use the remote start or the key, it does it regardless.  Does anyone have any idea what I may have done or missed to have this happen?  Also, how do I clear this code, can it be done by disconnecting the battery or do I need a scan tool to do it?  MNViking28

Check the airbag fuse to see if it's blown as well.Jeff

About the onlything that would cause that is, both accy wires. unless you tapped the bypass module into the airbag harness. Make sure you use the progamable relay on the astro 1,4,6,7,8 up to program that for accy.Tire Proz Stillwater Mn

That is.....ONLY if your usng it for second ign. If you are using one of the programables.....program it!!!

I tried to disconnect the battery, left it overnight...same code.  I used the programmable second ignition, just like you do on all the rest of them.  I haven't checked the air bag fuse...I guess I figured the air bag fuse would have made the light stay on constant.  I have reprogrammed the module, twice, to make sure everything was programmed right.  I am totally confused by this one.  If it was an accessory wire, I would think that it would only do it with the astro, not with the key as well.  I used the bypass kits module (pkf3) that has you tap into the rx and tx wires as well as positive, negative, and ground when running.  The bypass seems to be working fine.  Anyone else have any idea what the code even means and how to get rid of it????MNViking28

Airbag light will go out if there aren't any codes, you have a problem, I found a few of these have bad connection at the passenger pretensioners   hope this helps

I don't know about resetting the light......did the customer drive the car for a long time after you did the remote start? I just did a remote start in a Ranger recently. There are two, separate, gray / YELLOW accessory wires. I found that when I only powered up one of them, I got an airbag and ABS light during remote start. Once I corrected the problem and powered up both gray / YELLOWs, the light went out and that was it. But it's possible that if the remote starter was used repeatedly, maybe a permanent code would set. Regardless of how you go about fixing the light, I would be sure that both gray / YELLOWs are powered as accessories.

i have a 06 ranger same wiring as the 04  to do very soon. i know there is a 2nd acc but why are u saying to power up both gray / YELLOW wires? the deitech sheet says nothing special about this. normally when there is 2 acc wires the same color u energise one and it dose both. i was looking at the sheet and it looks like a really easy truck...
