Absolutely! Easiest one to get at in my opinion. Just take the trim piece off the front of the dash, 4 7mm screws holding the cluster in and like f150fan mentioned, its the ONLY white wire on the back of the cluster. Good luck.

nope. Its actually really easy to get to behind the cluster. hop up into the seat and put the key in the ignition and turn the car on, move the shift lever down..(put parking break on). pull on the top part of the trim panel above the cluster until it pops out. the whole thing just pops on, and it will pop off just as easy. take it off, set it on the dash. now you have access to all 4 7mm screws to take the cluster out. for all the guys who know exactly what i'm talking about, once you get it down, it gets to be a very easy process to get a reliable tach source for these vehicles.

I pulled the instrument cluster out and got to the white wire.   When I check the frequency with the truck idling it is 22.7 hz.   According to the Crimestopper RS 1905 FM install manual it needs to be from  70-700 hz to work properly.   Has anyone used the tach signal on a Durmax diesel with the RS 1905 remote start?   Would it be better to use the smart tachless mode?

I have never had an issue using the white tach wire on the cluster. Use it.....

Finally got a chance to start the remote install last weekend.   I am installing a Crimestopper RS 1905 FM with GM-SL2 bypass.   Installed the T-harness and wired in an Anti-grind relay and got all the other wiring done.  Haven't plugged anything in yet.    While I had the dash bezel off, I pulled out the Climate control module to see if I could locate the wire for the rear defroster.   It is easy to get to the connector, but many wires in there.   It seems like there should be a momentary pulse from the push button to trigger the rear defroster.    I would like to control this feature with one of the auxilliary outputs.  Anyone have any information on the wiring coming from this module?
