Hey peeps.

just about to get my new car, its a golf mk3 cabrio and just wondered what the acoustics are like in convertables? does this make any difference at all? i really want a nice sound system in the golf and want to kit it out with all the best gear but just generally wondered if there is any real big difference with it having the vinyl roof instead of a hard top?

Thanks guys!

more noise can enter be heard from the outside of the car. making your system not as loud (other people can provide more info then i lol) it will not be the same and will not sound as good as in a hardtop.

I have a '96 miata. With the top up it's pretty decent. With the hardtop on it seems like it keeps in even a little more of the sound and sounds really nice. You lose a ton of sound with the top down. Above 40-50mph you'll need a lot of power to keep things audible. It's an uphill battle.
