I installed my 554t, and just wedged the siren somewhere instead of screwing it down because i had to get somewhere during my install and forgot about it.  Well, it fell from it's wedged spot, and I found it hanging about 3 inches off the ground by the wires.  Now I don't know if rain can damage it, but when I arm and disarm, it just clicks instead of chirping.

What should I do?  Is there a real cheap way of replacing it?

will the radio shack siren be as loud?

I was thinking about getting the siren that you can program with your own voice.  maybe I'll get this now to replace it.  Question is: Is this a two stage siren?  i.e.  warn away vocal message and full - out siren when alarm is fully triggered?  or does it just keep talking?

thanks, mike

The problem I have seen with the voice ones is that people set it off for kicks just to hear it.  Maybe the people you know aren't as immature as the peope I know however. I am a moron -- posted image.

i would guess the wires got yanked from the board inside the siren. The DEI sirens are servicable, so open it up and re-solder the wires. (2 small screws inside the horn will relase the body) if it's totally dead, they only run about $25 retail, or any reputable brand replacement will do. I know you said cheap, but Radio Shack is below cheap in my book....

And the voice modules are just that, Voice. They do not whail like a siren.

I think the siren just got wet.  For the last three days, it seems like it gets a little bit louder each day, since i mounted it face down.

Hey, will I be able to wire up my horn honk with my siren?  I'm thinking I can use my factory panic horn honk circuit somehow.
