Okay, I removed both tweeters from the front door 4x6's (one was blown, not playing at all). I can now use the fader to get better control better control over the front treble/mid ratio (Fr ch's - Alpine tweeters. Rr ch's - 4x6 woofers). I now just need to get inductors for the 4x6 woofers [I 'polybagged' them (thanks aznboi3644!) while i was 'in there'], i'll do about 2500-3500Hz. Thats prolly about where the Alpine tweets are sitting at. It'll ultimately be bandpassed as it's h/passed @ '160'Hz from the HU.

Anyway, by removing the two tweeters from the 2ways in the doors I think it helped with the chh a little. I think the HU got hot to the point of no return (where the 'chh' came from). -I'll run it 'till it goes...!

I replaced the RCAs w/ RF ones. I took out the HU and made the wiring behind it more neat, double checking/tightening all connections. Lastly, I tightened my HU heatsink to dash ground. It was sort-of loose -I think this is what the prob was. The ground from HU heatsink to dash metal could be a little better -I didn't use ring-terminals and the wire needs to be bigger. The ground still could be better. I have the HU grounded thru factory harness and thru heatsink to dash support -this maybe?.

Now the noise is almost nonexistant. Almost. It happens rarely.

Could a loose/dirty ground connection cause this noise on snare hits? Is it a combo of this and crappy recordings?

You don't need a million sets of speakers it reduces sound quality. Put the money you spent on all those different speakers and buy one decent set of components and power them properly.

I know this, man! Sound quality is not an issue, here. It actually sounds really good. The rear fill is just that, rear fill.     Today I replaced the rear 6.5's with some in which the tweeter wires are connected straight to the terminal on speaker, instead of through the wooder cone via tinsel leads. The tinsel leads for the tweeters were wearing out and causing them to cut in and out. I think it may be a varying-impedance issue -tinsel leads for tweeters adding resistance. I'm about to go out to the car and put it on the Tu-Pac song that did the crack/chh noise real bad at first...

Well I'm back and I forgot that I gave the CD away! I'll post when I borrow it back and try again. I did, however, try another song that did it badly and the crack/chh noise is gone! It's not official, yet. I'll holler.

This is crazy. It has to do with where the treble is set.

At +2 through +4 the noise occurs. Anywhere below or above this is fine. I tried the 2-Pac song that does the noise nonstop, the noise is completely GONE with treble anywhere out of the +2 through +4 range.

I'll leave it alone at the 'flat' eq setting, where it sounds sweet. Thanks to all.
