how to check for polarity

hey guys i have  pair of speakers, but they are not maked +/-  there is a red dot and i am assuming that marks positive, but i want to be sure.  they are cdt's.  does anyone know how to check with a meter? is there a way?

take a 9 volt battery and hook it up to the speaker and "pop" it. if it goes up your polarity is correct. if it goes down you have to polarity reversed. you can't check it with a meter.

The red dot is always the positive terminal.  On some woofers (such as 8 ohm), it is purple.  Another method of marking polarity is wide spade / narrow spade, with the wide spade positive.  Otherwise, it is marked with a +.
Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.
