Hello anybody, i'm new to the forum, looks great.  I need some help connecting the pioneer harness to the intrepid's existing harness.  I have the connectors but do not know which wires to connect together.  Please help, I need it!

Thanks

Hey Winslow,
Your best bet is to head out to your local Best Buy, Circuit City or Audioking and pick up the CR01B harness. It's the mating harness that you will connect to your Pioneer harness and it will plug in to the existing harness in your Intrepid. Connect the loose wires to your Pioneer harness (They will be color matched, and there will be the EIA standard wire colors on the back of the package) and the plastic end into your factory wiring harness. Use closed end crimp caps and Klein style crimpers to connect the wires. Don't splice and tape, they'll come apart when after 6 months the electrical tape becomes gummy.
Trust me, it's worth the 16 bucks. It will save you from cutting off the factory wiring harness and a whole lot of trouble later if you want to hook up RCA's or anything else. If you need any other help, just post up.

thank you that was fast.  What do I do about the colors that do not match.  For instance the orange wire on the pioneer has a 10 amp fuse, but it is the illu. dash light on the mating harness.  And i don't have a wiring diagram.

Thanks again

Hook that wire up to the illumination wire, and you can crimp off the dimmer wire. You can just crimp cap those off by themselves so they won't hurt any other wires. The blue wire with a white stripe is the remote turn on wire, so if you want to hook up a remote turn on wire for an amp, that's what it's for. Any wires that do not directly correspond between the Pioneer harness and the Chrysler harness should be crimped by themselves. Post back if you need anything else. I'll check the forums pretty frequently throughout the day. damn I hate moving.

got all the wires connected and no power to CD player.  I'm sure I have the speakers on right but my concern is the power in and the ground.  I grounded the harness ground on the back of the player.  red line to red(pioneer wire has ACC tag on it,  the orange wire w/ the fuse has + BATTERY tag.  and the yellow wire on the mating harness labeled CONSTANT VOLT is not connected.

Need more ideas, thanks

Connect the Orange wire with the +BAT tag on it (On the Pioneer) and hook it up to the yellow 12+CONSTANT wire in the mating harness. Also, connect the ground wire (black, no stripe) from the Pioneer harness to the black wire in the mating harness. You shouldn't ground the head unit to itself.

The ACC tag means that the unit will receive 12 volts when the key is in the "on" or "Acc" position. The 12+ or BAT tag means that the unit receives a small amount of 12 volt power all the time. This serves to maintain your radio presets and EQ settings. Any more questions, either post back here or call me at 515-707-2739, I won't be mad.
