i'm just wondering something here, we just had a local spl competition here (nothing big, but it started a debate on subs) the shop had a demo car with 4 - 15" MTX (9500's i beleive) hitting 152.2 with a wal and a ported box and the whole nine yards, and they were saying MTX is the best,  then the neighbor shop deals with pioneer and they were saying the pionner SPL 12" subs are better then the MTX 12" 9500's,  which brings me to JBL (which i deal with) i havn't heard the Gti's, i'm putting 3 in a 1987 RX-7 this winter  and everyone else says the JL W7 12" subs are better. so i'm just wondering, putting each sub in a properly designed box with proper power, etc which sub would get the loudest? and which one would have the best SQ?

At such a public forum as a spl compitition, of course everyone sells the "better sub". If I had been there I would tell you that the MSX audio subs I sell are the best. If there was really a best sub then everyone would use it in comp. Shows and comps are really about selling product.
