Here are some pics of my 2nd glass project.  Some of you may remember my first https://www.the12volt.com/installbay/forum_posts.asp?tid=19682&PN=1 .  I think my next project is going to be glassing the headliner but it is tough to keep the surface like glass flat without pinholes or wavy looking.  Any suggestions?  Tell me what you guys think...

Before

I screwed down the tweeter pod in the position that i wanted it

I stretched a piece of old underwear around it and soaked it with resin

I glassed over the whole piece

After 1 layer of bondo-glass, 2 layers of bondo, and spot putty and a whole lotta sanding, priming, sanding, priming and so on, i painted them

Here's the final product with the tweeter installed

Looks awesome. Keep the pics and descriptions coming! I also see you have your door panels off, what are you planning to do with them?

Looks great!  But one quck question...  Do you run into a lot of freq shifting with them mounted way up there?  Like a woman singing will "jump" from tweeter to mids or anything since it isn't mounted with the mid?  Looks hot though.

Well first of all...my door panels are off because thats where i originally installed the tweeter and now it has a hole in it and it is eventually going to get fiberglassed also and painted the same color as my car when i get it repainted.  As for muppetmasters question...It sounds alot better to me because I have 2 12" MTX subs in the back and when i really jack it up...the tweeters are right there and the lows dont crowd out the mids and highs.  Keep the opinions and responses coming

interesting...sounds like your system is a little out of balance if the subs crowd the mids/highs out  2nd glass project pics -- posted image.  I agree with previous comments...having the tweet so far from the midbass must cause late reflections and phase shift problems...I know to my ears that if a tweeter is too much further away from the mid than 6" or so, I can really really hear it...

The stock system in my 02 Grand Prix is like that, and I hate it...6.5" mid in the door, angled up and forward (nice).  but the tweet is in a pod at the same level as the door mirrors...way too high!

Im talking about painting a fiberglass/bondo surface. I have a huge box for a 15 eclipse titanium and am not sure i want to pay 100-200 $ to get it painted at a body shop. If i get the highest quality high gloss spray paint and so it from far away and do a lot of thin coats should i be fine? Maby a clear coat on top?thansk
