I have an 07 Chevy Silverado that i put a new radio in. Thought I had it working but found out that I wired the ACC wire to the trucks illumination wire on accident. Needless to say the radio would only work when the lights were on. That really didnt bother me since it has daylight running lights becasue they are on all the time until today they wouldnt work. I could turn the lights on manually but thats it. So i took it apart again to find an alternate ign wire. Found a source and hooked it up but now my radio has kind of a flash to it and as soon as I hit a button on the radio it goes dark. The radio stays on but the lights go out. Could it be my battery casuing this issue? I have no idea. Please help!

is the truck the new body style or is it the body style before that? i ask because they made both styles of Silverado in 07 with the older body style being called the "classic". i need to know because it will make a huge difference in what you need to do and whatever parts you need to buy. also does your truck have onstar or the Bose audio system?
the best way to solve this problem is to buy the right adapter harness for your truck instead of hard wiring the radio's red accessory turn on wire to more random power sources.
the factory radio uses a data signal from the truck to turn itself on and an aftermarket radio is not compatible with this data turn on feature without a special adapter. if you chose not to use the adapter then you will lose all warning chimes like when you leave the lights on or when you leave the key in the ignition or when you have low fuel or when any trouble message shows up on the information center in the instrument cluster. you also lose the feature that holds power to the radio until you open the door after you turn the truck off. you also lost the ability to use onstar if you have it equipped and active.
if you are willing to lose all of the things i just mentioned then you can hard wire the red wire to the trucks accessory wire or maybe a 12v socket but to tell you exactly what to do i need to know which body style your truck is.

The truck is the new body style with on star. I dont care about any of the chimes. I looked for a wiring harness for the truck on crutchfield and it says they are not available

After about an hour I finally found what i think is the right harness to attach to the radio. Do you think becasue its flashing and the radio goes dark after hitting a button i messed up the radio or do you think that its just the way its wired in?

no those sound like symptoms of low voltage to the radio. possibly the wire you hooked uo to last is a low current wire and when the radio turns on and the internal amplifier starts working it tries to use more current than that wire can give so the radio cuts off.
every one of the plugs you need to retain onstar will also retain the chimes, only the basic plug that is only the plug will require you to run a wire to an ignition feed in your truck, this is the same thing you have been trying to do and it is not the correct way. it is a short cut

yea the metra harness is the GMOS-LAN-01 and the PAC harness is the OS-4.
the pac harness is more expensive but they work a whole lot better in my experience. PAC also makes the RP4-GM31 that has a built in steering wheel control adapter.
if you dont mind losing onstar then you can get the PAC C2R-GM29 which only retains the warning chimes

Metra 70-2105 is the non digital harness. There is a Pink wire on the A/C control that provides ignition power. I think it is in the Blue plug.
