alright.......i understand that you have to run a wire to your amp for power.....but what i was wondering was, where exactley do you attach it to???....do you find a wire runnin from the battery and attach it to there or sumthin???....and another question.....is what is the best way to wire your sub......just parallel or what...and if you suggest another way.....please show me a diagram.....(i learn fast.....but faster with diagrams)

You run the amp's power wire directly to the vehicle's battery. You may have to drill a hole through the firewall, but there's usually an existing gromlet that you can use instead. Make sure to fuse the power wire no more than 18 inches away from the battery (meaning within the 1st 18 inches from the battery, there needs to be an inline fuse installed on the power wire). There are Amplifier Installation Kits available that have everything you need, some have the basics (inline fused power wire, ground wire, and remote turn on lead) and some have some x-tra toys like distribution blocks, interconnects, speaker wire, etc.

I can't give you a deffinative answer on the sub wiring unless you tell me

1) The make and model of the sub(s)

2) How many you are planning to install (1 sub, 2 subs, etc)

3) The make and model of the amp(s)

If you got an amplifier wiring kit it will come with a ring terminal for the power cable. some kits already have it crimped onto the wire, while others make you crimp it on yourself. Same thing goes for the inline fuseholder, although most companys already have that hooked up to the cable. Make sure that you attatch the ring terminal to the end of the wire closest to the fuseholder, because as wvsquirrel said the fuseholder needs to be close to the battery.

Pretty much all batteries have a small nut that, when tightened, compresses the factory positive battery clamp so that it will stay on the positive battery post. Usually you just remove that nut, put the ring terminal onto the bolt, then tighten the nut again and you're good to go.

If your car is a gm car though you'll probably need an adapter post--either the kind with the long threads or the kind with the short threads.
