I have always been confused about this seeing how I never have hed the opertunity to install one. how does a crossover work, it takes an input and divides it two threee and even four ways but the question that I have is what is the imedance that the amp see's? is there no chage to the ohm load? how oes this work??

Please help?!

A properly designed crossover will present the same impedence as the speakers connected to it.  It filters the sound and "directs" the proper frequencies to the proper speaker.  This is a gross over-simplification and not entirely accurate, but think of it this way: the amp only "sees" one speaker at a time and will see the impedence of that speaker.
