Okay, well this is my first post, read alot of things for a while now.
My problem is no amps turn on.
My set up is, 2 audiobahn amps, plus 1 audiobahn cap. None of which are powered on. They were working fine for 6 months, then I got an alarm installed and everything was fine then they just stopped working. The 2 amps protection lights come on when I turn the car on. The cap shows no lights or volts read out like it ussually does. The remote turn on wire went from the Sony Xplod ( :-(  )  headunit and powered both amps up. I am running 2 power wires from a distro block, 1 8gauge for the 4 channel amp and 1 4 gauge from battery to distro block to amp for subs.
I disconnected all speaker wires, so I know it is not a speaker wire short. My guess is something with the remote wire maybe? I do not have a voltmeter to check the wires, but all fuses are in place, unblown, and the proper amps. I plan on calling the alarm installer but right not theres 5 inches of snow so I am pretty much immobilzed. Does anyone have any ideas? My grounds haven't changed in 6 months so I can't see how they could just stop working. Could I have blown the remote turn on lead on my headunit, and that in turn caused a short somewhere in the remote line?
Thanks for all your help.

Also, the alarm was a clifford matrix 3.5 with remote start.

I also noticed when the car is remote started the headunit does not come on. But then when i put the key in the ignition like normal the headunit comes on. Also the headunit used to always be on when the key was in acc mode, now when i put it from acc to "on" the headunit turns off for a second, same when I actually start the car.

The car is a 1995 honda accord v6 ex.

humm, take that cap out of the line,  it may be shorting the remote wire since it sounds pooched to me.  If that dosn't change anything, disconnect the remote wire from the amps and jump a wire from the 12v+terminal to the remote terminal on the amp.  if it works fine its a remote turn on problem, ,if its still not working, it could be a voltage issue.

As for the head unit not turning on when remote started, that is normal for some installs, ,you actually dont want it on when its remote started.  And when you turn it from acc to on, of course the head unit is going to turn off, thats completely normal, you are just paranoid now because you have a remote starter installed.  About 75% of all customers get paranoid after a car starter install , , its quite annoying.

If your protection lights are coming on then I don't think its the remote wire. Sounds like the amps are tring to turn on. Was the RS installed professionaly? Did the amps work after the RS was installed at all? Why did you buy sony xplode and audiobahn?
Ok, forget the last question.

Yes the alarm was done professionally. And the entire system worked for 2 days while having the remote start. So I don't know if they are linked together (problem wise, not electrical) or not and I am reluctant to call the installer especially if its a mistake that I made when originally installing the system.
And no comment on my hardware :( I am running 3 jls if that makes up for anything.

I think its a grounding problem.. becuase when I remove the RCAs the protection light gets real dim, would that be a grounding problem?

Basic troubleshooting: when any electronic gear stops working, one of several things had to have happened:  1) something broke 2) something wore out, or 3) something was changed.  Start with the simplest to figure out, which is 3: something was changed.  Look at what was changed and how it could have affected whatever now does not work.

You just had a major change done to the electrical system of your vehicle.  An alarm with remote start, which can affect every othr part of your vehicle's electrical system.  This is the most likely culprit to creat the "stereo won't work" problem.

You say this alarm install was "done professionally."  I assume this means at a shop?  Here's my suggestion: DO NOT TOUCH ANYTHING IN YOUR STEREO.  Immediately call the shop and tell them your stereo stopped working after the alarm installation.  Take the car to the shop and get them to fix whatever they did to change the way the stereo works.  Talk to the manager and/or the owner if you need to.  Any shop worth being in business will make sure that whatever they do does not damage or disrupt systems already in the car unless they tell you this first.  Their install 'broke" your stereo and they should repair it.  If they refuse, they are a very poor shop indeed and you should report them to the BBB and you may have legal recourse.

Thanks for that advice, but I have waited to long, and removed all of the components.

Any other suggestions? I haven't had time to mess with it since this post was made.

The cap may have discharged, because it did turn on for a few minutes the other day, and read 7 volts with ignition on, so I found that a little wierd, so I was thinking I will recharge it later.

Thanks for your suggestions.
