Hi guys,
just looking for some help. I have a 2005 durango with a stock system in it right now. I am looking too keep the stock HU. I have an Infinity reference 5760a amp which i am installing with the high level inputs so power should not be an issue(i also have a bandpass box with dual 10s). My main questions are (1)should i go with components in the front and back as there are only the speaker locations in both doors or (2)should i just go with components in the front and two ways in the back (3) what would you recommend in either case keeping a budget of about $400-500 and (finally) last but not least, there appears to be a spot for small speakers on top of the dash but i am not sure as there are two things that look like grilles and the heat vent is in the middle, does any body know for sure that the doors are the only pre-cut speaker spots? thanks for any help you can give

Also, if anybody knows, there is a small storage area in the back of the vehicle in which the amp fits perfectly would this be a good place to installthe amp? i would like it to be as hidden as possible. I could take the sub box in or out very easily.thanks for any helpyou guys can provide.also would you recommend an 8ga install kit or something heavier?

Allencass,

I too own a 2005 Durango.  I recently submitted a post looking for the VSS wire.  However to answer your question about the amp in the hidden compartment, the audio installers placed my alpine amp in there.  I have nothing else in that area and everything seems to be working fine.  My car was equipped with the Infinity speaker system, however I changed out the radio (Eclipse AVN 5385) and also bought a sub-woofer box along with that.  The problem I feel is that I don't believe I get enough highs in the back to compensate for the bass.  Just something I thought you should know.

Correction on the Eclipse radio, it's a 5435.
