i have a q/a that i have looked for but wasent able to find it. it is about a box that i would like to build but dont how to do it. it is about transmission line boxes and if it is worth it to atempt. i already now that that they produce a faniminal sound like no other. but is there a way that i can make it so it is able to fit in a car. the only set up ive seen them in are home systems. i havent heard of them being used in car setups before because of there large size. but im thinking that if they really are as good as they say they are. then wy not try.
i also would like to know what is the advantege of haveing a slot other than that you can save space by building it with the box. and i now that the tl and slot port are some what the same well actuly no but how do they compare. i now that the tl has very good sq but that is about it. i have a 12. i want good sq and i now that the tl will give me that but will it give me the thomp thomp that we all love.
as you can see i am still seeing if i want to build it but it is quite complicated to build but im up to the challenge. would it be better if i gust went with a sloted port and made it bend to the back and then ran it along the back to the corner. or dose it depend on the speakers spesifications. and would i get better spl with a little less sq than the tl.

Sure, a TL could be built for the car.  I've seen some.  Usually the best overall performance for SQ is still sealed and the best overall performance for SPL is still ported, but a TL is as you say a cross between the two.  By the way, the only real advantage to a slotted port is it can be used in places where a round port won't fit, plus it adds a brace to your enclosure.  Or for design or aesthetic reasons.  To learn about transmission lines, you could start HERE, and HERE and also HERE.  And HERE is an excellent design, even though it's not intended for a vehicle the concepts used here would be useful to understand..  Have fun.

a DYohn i was hoping to hear from, you seem to be an extreamly smart guy. i would like to ask you a question. what do you think the overall best or i ges i can say best box there is to build in your opinion. and the best material that you have used. have you ever had personal experiences any tl boxes, what do you think of them in comparison with others. the reason im asking you this is cuse i trust your respones. and i hold it in the highest respect.

I have had a TL in my car. The thing was a 9 cubic foot TL with 2 old-school Eclipse 12s in it. Stuffed and tuned, I ended up with an Fs of 18Hz, and I can tell you, it was THE MOST satisfying basas I have ever had in my car. VERY clean, and extended output. It wasn't as loud as some other enclosures, but the SQ was as good as I have ever heard in a car.
It had 300 pounds of sand in it for damping! I still have the enclosure in my garage as a workbench. I couldn't bring myself to throw it away - there was just too much work in it!
It can be done, be prepared for the work, and you WILL give up space, and I mean A LOT OF SPACE, to do it right...
It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."
