One of my installers put an amp in a Nissan today and when the install was finished, the airbag light would come on and start flashing after the check.  He looked over the install again to make sure nothing was left unplugged or pinched, screwed thru... all the normal procedures.. anyway, he couldn't find anything.. Finished what I was doing and checked the install out myself and everything checked out ok... this is what he did..  key on to move shifter back and pulled the dash panels off.. in doing this, he had to unplug the airbag on/off key switch for the pass airbag and the little light for 'airbag off'.. My thinking was the with having the ign on and then unplugging the switch, it sent a malfunction to the computer and it needs to be reset.. I called my other store to talk with another manager to see if he'd encountered soemthing like this. He did say that he'd seen it before and what happens is just what I had thought and that the truck would need to go to the dealer for reprogramming.   He said that first thing before pulling off the dash is the neg. terminal of the Battery needs to be unhooked before hand.

Now the question... anyone else had this trouble or heard of this? and if so, is there ANY way we can reset (tried all the obvious, disconnect battery, tap it four times, sh*t like that.) reset the computer without going thru the dealer... this was one of those jobs that was for a family member of the sales manager and was doing it for free (those free ones are the ones that really put a banging on ya. )

Anyway, I have an installer that would really apperciate ANY input you can give.. post here, email me, or gimme a call at 225-343-1542 (9-6pm CT) Ask for George or Curtis

Hey Snoman,

This may sound corny but it just might work if the vehicle is 96 and newer. If you have an Autozone near you they have the diagnostic computer that can reset that for you at no charge! Let me know how it goes.
