Hey guys, im new here and i found a heap of info when installing my new stereo and it all was awsome.. so cheers for that..
Now for my problem.
Ive installed my system and it all works sweet, except when i crank it and then the amp cuts out and al;l i can hear is the front 4"'s that are running off the headunit.
I have a 4 chan pioneer amp ( GM-6100F) which is 600watt and on that amp is 2 pioneer 6x9's ( TS-A6971E) and one 500watt (i think) clarion Sub that someone gave me.
i have sanded back the the ground nice and good and the the power is connected properly.
The power cable is a 8 guage powerline.
both 6x9's and the sub are hooked up to the amp with RCA's..
i have know idea why it cuts out..
Could you guys give me some idea's of what has gone wrong and why i am having this problem???
Thanks guys heaps

It's probably either an improper gain control setting, or an impedence problem.

I hope I misunderstood that one, and what you were referring to was your amp has RCA inputs and you are using speaker wire to the speakers? Right?

I second what was mentioned by geepherder. Does your amp heat up excessively? What is the wire configuration on the sub (i.e. 2 ohm dual voice coil) ?

please tell me that you dont have rcs's as speaker wire if you do then you sould use speaker wire. and if that was a mise type and you are useing speaker wire then you are fine. i think that you have a ohm problem couse the same thing happened to his amp when we briged it would go into protection. and then when we turned it down it would come back on. it would only happen when the amp would have to put out a lot of power. like when the beat droped real hard. hope this helped

oops yeah guys im running the rca's to them amp.. sorry about that My car audio cuts out -- posted image. My car audio cuts out -- posted image. My car audio cuts out -- posted image.
But youngone that seems like what is exactly happening, when there is a large surge of bass or sound the whole thing cuts out. How would i fix this if this was the problem.
dwarren im sorry i dont know the config, someone gave me the clarion sub. is there anyway i could find out?
geepherder, what kind of gain control setting or impedence problem?
Thanks guys you have been heaps of help so far.

Pull the sub out of the box and check the back for a label of some sort. This should give you a model number or something, and maybe even a wattage rating. Post it here and then we might be able to help you out on whether it is wired correctly or not and if this is the problem versus an improperly-set gain.

Do you notice a dramatic dimming of your headlights also when this happens?  If so, I'd have the alternator and battery checked.

Impedence is probably not it, then- that's a 4 ohm woofer I believe.  Your gain control settings on the amp may be too high.

Cheers thanx for the great advice.
I have noticed dimming of my lights sometimes, but not dramatic i dont think, just noticeable..
my battery has gone flat on me a few times when testing and so forth when i havnt had the car on. so i dont know, maybe that might be it..
Ill play around with the amp gain and see if that help at all, if it doesnt, ill go change my battery.
Ive heard battery's are all the same these days, is this true or is there certain brands and makes that are better than other for this type of thing?
Cheers guys once again..

Well, there are batteries for different types of uses.  Take Optima- for example: the red top is for starting, yellow top is deep cycle, and blue top is for marine applications.
