Ok. here's the problem. I attempted to wire it up as per the instructions, downloaded the relvant diagrams etc. Diagram for the toyota wires nearly match, bar one or two exceptions. (Checked the toyta diagram at www.installdr.com) I've got

Gray wire that connects to a blue connector, branchinging off into the gray as before, and a red (think it is the fm converter)

Pink with gray bands (not stripes, bands!)

Green with gray bands

brown with gray bands

light green with gray bands

lavender

blue

blue with yellow stripe

that was on the main group of wire. there is also a second smaller group that are all dark with a stripe. These (i think) are the speakers. That is they should be the speakers, as they match the diagram.

I connected the ground first, then yellow/red etc everything, then zilch. Nada. Also, there is a factory amp under the seat, is there any connection there? The door no longer chimes when the door opens with the key in the ignition/lights on. And the clock reset itself. So.... Any suggestions?

basically diagrams are good but testing is better . get a probe tester what ever and what you mainly looking for is a constant 12 volts when the key is out of cylender and a switched 12 volts when the key is turn to the on possition or other. the constant connects to the yellow wire of after market radio,. and the switched 12 volt wire connects to the red wire of after market radio than you have to determine if you have a power antenna or factory interior/.sub amp if you do than you have to give it power to either the blue white on most radios is the antenna wire and the solid blue on most radios is power only when the radio is turned on and it stays on with cd radio and etc. but the antenna wire usually only stays on with the radio. the blue and blue white is being said as that is how it is in kenwood radios.,

mecp certification is not always needed. I have it and it has not helped me out at all. my experience out shines it.

D'oh! Youwere right there jon, blew a fuse when i was stripping the car's wires. I let a pro handle it and he had it done pretty quickly. Thanks folks.
