Just finished my GMC Suburban today. Nothing special, but i'm a poor high-school student on a budget.
Replaced the stock deck with an Alpine CDA-9856 (CD/MP3/WMA/iPod/HD/XM/Sirius/Etc).. which involved removing the pocket controller (stupid design) and replacing it with a Metra dash pocket, also removing the brain of the stereo burried in the dash, and the ugly EQ/Tape deck they stick in the middle of the dash.
Running Pioneer (not sure of the model but they were $49.99) 4x6's in the dash and Pioneer (once again not sure of the model but they were also $49.99) 6.5" in the rear doors. Disconnected the rear-rear cargo area speakers (4x10") for now, as i cant afford to replace them yet.   All the speakers had the cones ripped, torn, or worn out.. all all sucked in everyway, no way to recycle rear fill in this case.
Thats the front stage of the system.
For the low-end, i'm running my TrippLite inverter into a QSC USA900 (pro audio) amp, and a EAW LA118z 18" front loaded sub, strapped down in the rear of the cargo area (also a pro audio item) Frequency cut off courtesy of a Rane Crossover mounted in the road case with the amp.
Sounds really good as of now, and the bass hits. Will snap pics tommorow.
future upgrades are as follows, a nice 4 channel amp for the front and rear speakers, becuase they are under powered and when i crank it i can hear the clip point and i turn it down, realistically they're only getting maybe 10 or 12 watts, but for that little bit of power they sound fairly decent. plus i'd like to throw an active cross over in the mix to set a roll-off point    Also a decent mono-block (decent meaning kick ass) car audio amp to replace my temporary pro-audio stuff.
Thanks
-Jim
