problems with dei 611t

this is driving me so nuts! i hate to be such an air head, but i'm not 'relay tech savy' enough to figure this out on my own.. i have a DEI 611t latched relay thing. now, what i was trying to achieve was to tap into my parking brake so when my parking brake is engaged, the doors stay unlocked and when i disengage the doors automatically lock. i have not been able to get this thing to power on for me once! i don't know if i'm wiring this thing up right.. now, something sort of came to mind as well.. when my alarm is activated of course, the parking brake will be up. will that effect whether or not that relay thing works or not? any help would be VERY much appreciated. thanks.

I think you're going about it the wrong way.

If the car has OEM electric doorlocks then you need to create two distict pulses dependant upon parking brake position.

The ideal would be a DEI 452T doorlock pulse generator. The orange wire would be connected to the parking brake.

The 452T green wire is connected to the GREEN / WHITE OEM lock wire either in driver's door or under driver seat at factory alarm module (if equipped).

The 452T blue wire is connected to the GREEN/ red OEM unlock wire either in driver's door or under driver seat at factory alarm module (if equipped).

Parkbrake engaged sends a negative pulse to lock, disengaged sends a negative pulse to unlock.

No, they're not crap, just inappropriate for your particular need.
