any way to test a dei remote?

I just finished the install of an Avital 2101 w/ door lock actuators on my 2007 Chevy Colorado. Everything works fantastic. The keyless system included two remotes, as most DEI alarms/keyless systems. One remote worked straight out of the box, but I'm having a real hard time programming the 2nd remote. I've cleared all of the transmitters several times using the valet programming mode. Remote 1 programs but the damned remote 2 never takes. It appears to be in good condition and the LED flashes when pressed. Any ideas as to how I can get this thing to program or test the remote for functionality?

Did you check to see if the remotes are cleared? DEI likes to change the programming steps without changing model numbers. an example is their old 4100 r/s. originally it had 13 programming steps and later had 18 and no way to tell the difference. Clear the remotes and make sure remote 1 is no longer working. If it still does then you may have the steps incorrect. if not there is either an issue with the remote or the brain, both of which should be under warranty

When I cleared the remotes I verified that neither remote was working. During a few tries, I attempted to begin programming the cleared brain with remote 2 'bad' remote. Unfortunately all of the evidence suggests that there is some defect with the equipment. Posting was a last ditch effort to find some magic method. Thanks for the help. Any other input would be greatly appreciated.

Go to an AutoZone, and at the parts counter they have a little display that sells batteries for your remote. Attached to that display is a device that tests if your remote is working.
