I currently have installed in my 1997 Bonneville a Viper 791X which is only a one way remote start. I purchased a Python 871XP but sold my car before installing it. Now here is the question. Would I be able to just swap out the head units but use the same wires from my viper so I can have the two way paging auto start but using the Viper wiring? Please help because if I can do this it would save me a whole lot of time with tearing out the old wire from my viper and installing my python. Thanks for your help in advance. I know that this is the place to ask if Im going to get any answer's. Take Care guys and gals and I hope someone knows the answer to this question.

If the pinouts of each harness are the same then it will work. If even one of the pinouts are different, you will have problems. I know with Compustar, you can interchange between one way and two way systems by upgrading the antenna and remote(s)

I do have the remote and antenna for the Python and my viper is a 160VXL, one way. I messed up the Viper is a 160VXL and not the 791XV. Would this still work?

i'm not familiar with the 871xp,, are the remote start relays built into the brain or is it off board? iff off board with an xcrs it should be a direct swap, if on board you would have some work to do.

It didnt work, when I connected the head unit it just kept on clicking like the lights were flashing. Plus if one thing would work I would have thought that the door lock and unlock would work but that didnt even work right? Am I missing something simple here?
