2004 dodge stratus sedan problem

I installed a Code Alarm CA6552 Remote start key-less entry on my 2004 Dodge Stratus sedan. I do not have to start with grey key. I am having problems with the trunk pop and also door locks. You have to push/hold the unlock button for 3 seconds to pop the trunk. While doing this the doors keep locking or unlocking. When I arm the alarm it will chirp and other times I will get no chirp. If I hit the unlock button more than once it will lock. I did not hook up the factory disarm wire because I did not think it had a factory alarm. Any ideas or suggestions?

Is there no dedicated trunk release button? How did you hook up the trunk release? Are there separate lock and unlock buttons or are they on the same button? I'm not a big fan of Code Alarms. We carried them a while ago and we never had anything but problems with them. I would say well over 1/2 of the ones we did ended up coming back with bad brains and we had to swap them out. The code alarm does not have a dedicated trunk release button. I first installed a 5 wire relay then just a negative relay and also taking the -200ma trunk release wire straight to the trunk switch. They all open the trunk and gave me the same door lock problem while opening the trunk. This is my first code alarm install and I am with you offroadz, I should have just stuck with my normal auto page line.

I was also wanting to hook up the rear defroster to an aux output on alarm. The car has a push button rear defroster. What is the best way to do this? I figured I could just tap into behind switch and run a relay.

I would work on getting everything working properly before adding additional components. If it is a bad unit, then you may end up doing all that extra wiring for nothing. But yes, you need to test the switch to figure out which wire is a temporary ground while pressing the button (momentary type switch). Then pulse that wire. In most cases the 200ma output is enough to power it, but it is always possible that you may need a relay.Kenny

Lol I'll see if I can get it working right this weekend. I'm still scratching my head on why the door locks are unlocking/locking while trunk is Popped. What's the best way to double check that it does not have a factory alarm. I locked it and reached in the window to unlock from inside and alarm didn't kick on, so I assumed didn't have one.

That is the only test I know of to check for factory alarm, but I always press the lock button a few times to ensure it doesn't require 2 lock signals to arm. Then give it at least a full minute before opening the door to make sure the alarm has activated.Kenny
