Great forum here...just joined up.

I have a 2K2 Sante Fe V6 automatic with the factory alarm. I want to add a remote start but would still like to employ the factory alarm using only the remote from the remote start.

I am told the factory alarm does not have an arm/disarm wire so I have to use two remotes. Others have said that they can butcher my factory remote to interface with the remote start.

Some background on the operation of the alarm. It can only be enabled with the remote; locking with inside switch or key will not arm it. If, while alarm is enabled, I unlock the door with the key and open the door, the alarm will sound. While alarm is sounding, the car cannot be started. The alarm can be disabled with the remote only. If I were to sit in the car, lock the car with the remote (alarm arms) and then start the vehicle, the alarm is disabled.

Anybody have any suggestions on how to employ remote start and factory alarm???

I am considering the following remote starter: CS423 from Directstart but will also consider the LSA-9624 alarm/starter combo if I have to omit the factory alarm. The CS423 has alarm capability but the text doesn't explain a lot about it. Anybody have any info on it?

See them here: http://www.velocitymotorsport.com/index_main.html

Also, does anybody have the wiring diagram for the Hyundai Sante Fe. I tried searching this site and also looked at the Bulldog site but it was incomplete.

Sorry for the long post but will appreciate any help.

Ok well the shop that told you there is no wire for fcatory arm /disam is right you have to use the factory remote to do.YOur best bet may be  to just get a combo unit and disregard  the factory all together .I dont have the complete  diagram for your car  but i have some wiring info. The tach wire is at the ecm located center console to the right of the gas petal and the color is WHITE/ black. The parking lights are GREEN/ orange (+)at the fuse box it is a 15 pin harness. There is 2 blue wires at the ignition one is the primary ignition and the other is a starter wire your second ignition is pink.. Your door trigers are (-) its a yellow wire 8 pin plug at fuse panel. hope this helps this i sall i have.

Tach:  There are several WHITE/ black wires at the ECM....the one running to the front of the car should be the correct one.

Ignition switch wire harness:  There isn't a lot of slack in the wires, and you'll be tempted to unplug the harness to stretch it a little.  A co-worker of mine states that this will trigger the "check engine" light; do not unplug the harness.

Paying a professional to tap into the factory remotes will probably cost more than the price of simply paying extra for a combo remote start/alarm unit...I'd say it's not worth the hassle of messing around with the remote.  But two layers of protection is always nice....you might consider doing a combo AND triggering the factory remotes.

As for everything else, this chart seems to be accurate:

Thanks for the info Mobile and Chris. I think I'll likely go for the combo unit. I won't go for the double protection idea as I think that will only lead to an install nightmare.

I see in the chart above that all of the trigger points are listed as well. I am assuming I can use these connections for the trigger points from the combo unit?

Has anybody got experience with the units I have chosen. I was hoping Jeff from Velocity would comment as I borrowed his web link. Thanks for that. I can get these units from the distributor in Ottawa, Canada where I live. I'm not sure that I will get anything more in the combo unit than I would with the starter that I chose seeing as the starter has basic security features built in.

Again, thanks for the help and I hope I can ask more questions as I progress in my install.
