What is the rule on what amp on the diodes to use when installing car alarm..i.e door tiggers

I am not sure if I fully understand your Q. But if you are asking how many amps the diode should be, that is dictated by the circuit you are interfacing to.
For the door a one amp diode is fine. A standard 1N4001 is rated for 50 volts, @ 1 amp.
That will do fine for your application. For your reference, the following diodes are all rated for one amp, but there working voltage is alot higher.
Buy anyone you find the cheapest.
1N4001 = 50 VDC
1N4002 = 100 VDC
1N4003 = 200 VDC
1N4004 = 400 VDC
1N4005 = 600 VDC
1N4007 = 1000 VDC
