try turning the key to ignition and with-in a couple of seconds press and hold down that button that you found, that is probably the vallet switch
electronics run off of smoke, when you let the smoke out they stop working

cascadebull, pop hood, find siren, cut one of the wires only.  This will keep it fron shorting out siren cicuit, and also make it quiet.  435 is set up to disarm w/o remote, turn ign to run position, and within fifteen seconds, push valet switch, the number of times (between one and five) that installer programmed it for(default is one press/release of valet switch).  You may have to get in touch with them.  But first, you can try to resynch the remote, by standing near vehicle, and pressing the lock button several times repeatedly.  Usually they will synch up in about 3-10 presses of the button, but I have seen a few go to about 15-18 presses.  Just keep pressing til it goes yip-yip.  Then should arm/disarm normally.  Hope it helps.
If it don't fit, Force it.
If it breaks, You needed a new one anyway!
