2002 Dodge intrepid/Alarm Issue

I had a Commando 5005 alarm/remote start installed in a 2002 Dodge intrepid and it worked fine for an hour. I went to start the car with the remote and the alarm went crazy! The parking lights dont flash when i disarm the car, the lcd remote keeps telling me one of my doors are open, when their all closed!, and the lcd remote sounds off about every 10 min. There is a hammer on the lcd screen when making the sound. PLEASE HELP!!!!!Neoprene00

Did you solder all your connections ? Check the fuse on the parking light wire and for the impact sensor, disconnect the sensor temporarily and see if you still get the hammer error. If you still do, then you have a transmission error and it's probably the fault of the CPU. What door trigger wire did you use for the Intrepid ?Jeff

I installed plenty of amps but never an alarm...I went to an installer to have the alarm put in. I honestly have no clue, when it comes to alarm installs. As far as the door trigger wire , the installer said he followed the instructions in the manual. I cant reset anything because he placed the overide button near the brain. The alarm came with a window module that is set to roll the front left/right windows up when the alarm is armed.Neoprene00

In that case then bring it back to the installer and get him/her to fix the problem. Never try to fix the problem yourself if someone else did the installation cause the installer can come back to you and say that it was you who wrecked the system and because you went into the wiring, he could charge you for any repairs even if you didn't do anything to promote the problem.Jeff

Thanks Jeff. Do you think it was a good idea to locate the overide button near the brain? They said its good because it cant be found if someone breaks into the vehicle.Neoprene00

I always separate the two from each other. The main reason is for ease of use to use the override switch in a spot that you know, but is not readily accessible to any prying eyes. As far as anyone breaking into the vehicle, chances are they won't be looking for the override switch rather they will be trying to pop the hood to disconnect the battery.Jeff
