i was thinking of using my dome light output to turn on my reverse lights (like the new chevy's)and headlights(i have the HID system) in my 2001 Xterra. now im not using the dome light output casue on my truck the dome light goes on with the door locks. i was gonna tack the neg ouput to 2 relays and turn it to pos. 1 for headlights one for the reverse lights. do i have to diode isolate them or will the realays be enought tokeep the cercuits seperate.

also where do i get the wires and what colors are they

thans for the help and sorry for the long questions. just want to make sure b4 i do anything to be safe

Hi Carguy411, there is no need to diode isolate those relays.  However, according to the info I have you will need three relays total. One for the reverse lights and two for the headlights. The reverse lights will be a Yellow/Red (+) in the driver's kick panel. The headlights will be Red(+) (driver side) and RED / Blue(+) (passenger side).

You do not have to diode isolate the relays. You will be isolating the headlights and reverse lights with the relays.

carguy411, you do want to use relays, it's the diodes djfearny2 was referring to that you do not need.

Hi carguy411, no problem, after reading your post again, I fiigured that's what you meant.

You can fuse your main power lead from the battery with a fuse equal to that of both headlight fuses, but be sure to fuse each relay separately at the relays with the same value fuse used for each headlight, so if your headlights each have a 15 amp fuse, use a 30 amp main fuse at the battery, then a 15 amp fuse at each relay.
