I am having problems with the tach learning for this.I programed the alarm to learn tach when the car is cold ( high RPM's) this is the only time the remote start will work right when the car is started cold like for the first time in the morning..If the car is hot (driving around) and I remote start it it will die out after about 5 mins and gives me a 2 blink saying that over Rev protection cut out.If I try to reprogram the unit to lean the cars tach when the car is hot the RS will grind the starter for a very long time after the engine is running.

If anything it shouldn't be saying over rev it should be under rev.............

Any ideas at all on what to do? I would just like to be able to disable the over rev protection if i could?

Thanks a lot!

You need to program the tach when the vehicle is at it's lowest RPM.

Yeah thats weird, I agree with you that things sound reversed from what you would think it should be.
You could try a different tach source.
I show tach is Tan/Green at the coil.

Jeff- If I do that then the starter will grind .which makes no sense at all.

J Rilla - Yea I know that is very strange. but I am into that tan/green wire

Thanks again for your help

I know  I had problems on a new ford like this.. found a third acc. wire to power.. and cured everything.. this vehicle would over crank and not let me programm the bypass module because of the third acc. wire.. I think it was a RED / blk wire... Just a thought... also ran into this on a 1999 ford super duty..same thing another acc. wire

If everything else is hooked up properly and your sure of it and the only problem your having is the tach sense, I'd recommend using the voltage sensing feature instead of tach sensing. I always use tach sense however I had to use the voltage sensing feature one time cause the DEI unit I was installing  was having similar problems to what you are having. It worked flawlessly and I think it would help you in your situation.

Reading from your post everything seem to be reverse on the tach signal. I would meter the tach signal when it's cold and when it's hot. If anything find another tach and see if you get better result.
Tach info. below:
Two coil packs in this vehicle. Left hand front of engine and right hand front of engine. Each coil pack contains two coils, each controlling two spark plugs. Choose one of four wires at these coils. Tan/lt.green or tan/lt.blue at left coil module. Tan/white or tan/orange at right coil module.
Be careful whose advice you buy, but be patient with those who supply it.771xv into a 96 crown vic -- posted image.
