I am new to installing alarms. Thought I would try it atleast once. I have a 96 Mits Montero and am trying to install a Galaxy 5000RS-2W Plus. I have figured out the relay for the most part. Is is possible with this system to use remote start in tachless mode? The book is unclear on this. Also is the horn necessary when you already have a siren? Forgive me if these are stupid questions, but I read alot of posts but couldn't find any answers to these questions.
Thanks
Shane

quick answers 1: yes 2: no

tachless mode is also called voltage sensing. the remote starter will sense the change in voltage the car has while cranking the starter and after its started to know when to stop, whereas tach mode reads the actuall RPM's of the engine. My advice is to use tach whenever possible.

you do not need to use the horn honk since you are using the siren. its purely optionial incase you wanted a more "stock" sound or more sound period.

Thanks That helps alot. Since Tach is the best way to go, here is the next really stupid question, Where is the ingnition coil on the Montero? According to my local automotive store, Mitsubishi hasn't released the info for the repair manuals for my 96 Montero. And since it is a Mitsubishi, nothing looks right to me.
Also on the door trigger, the wire diagram says GREEN/ orange in the drivers kick panel. I haven't found a GREEN/ orange wire yet. Am I missing something or could the diagram be wrong?
Again Thanks

an easy place for the tach will be the uncommon color of any injector on the engine. TEST IT FIRST of course, but that should do the trick.

as far as the door trigger, when the tech sheets say driver kick it usually means that general area. if i remember right it might be near the fuse box on that one though. don't quote me its been a while since i've done a montero.

Well, I got the remote start to work, but I cant get the door locks to work. I found a GREEN/ red wire, but not a GREEN/ orange. I also read that the system can be interfaced dierectly without the use of relays, because the imkport vehicles factory door locking system require two pulses on the proper wire. I have a reley wired in. would it be the door trigger wire that is causing my problems? Or, can I scrap the reley?
